Description A Gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a disc Celeste bearing Mt. Rainier Argent, shadowed of the like (Silver Gray) issuing from a dense forest Vert; all enclosed by a band Azure (Teal Blue) inscribed "DEFENDING" around the top and "MERCURY" around the bottom in Gold letters; between the inscriptions on band, the device is surmounted by a sword, point up and a lightning bolt saltirewise Or. Symbolism The Group is a branch immaterial unit with Operations, Intelligence, Communications, Effects Assessment and Command and Control tasks that provide regionally-focused, culturally aware Information Operations support at the Army Service Component Command, Corps, Division and Brigade Combat Team levels of command. The teal blue of the band symbolizes the branch immaterial, worldwide joint operations of the unit, emphasizing the land aspect of their mission. The background depicting Mount Rainer represents the unit's foundation in the Pacific Northwest. The lightning bolt denotes speed and the unit's ability to strike wherever and whenever needed.
